- Gandhi Memorial Museum (Mahatma Gandhi Museum)
Gives good history of the Indian freedom struggle and Madurai’s past.
- Alagar Kovil
A temple set on a hill, about 20-30 km from Madurai. Scenic drive, peaceful, nice hill views.
- Vandiyur Mariamman Teppakulam
A big tank with beautiful gardens; during the Teppam (float) festival it’s especially lively.
- Pazhamudhir Cholai
One of the six abodes of Lord Murugan, set in a forested area. Good for nature walk + temple visit.
- Thiruparankundram Murugan Temple
Situated in a hill, sunset views are nice; also historical.
- Samanar Hills
Historic hills with ancient carvings and caves. Little trekking, nice view over Madurai.
